Ethiopian Israeli Advanced Degree Students Slammed by Pandemic

Keren Hanan Aynor Scholarship Program (KHA) allows Ethiopian-Israeli students to realize their talents and successfully complete their degree studies. KHA scholarships, averaging $1000 per year, go to students at universities across Israel.  KHA recipients, aged 25-55, are too old to receive regular state scholarships.  Most work part-time jobs to help pay their expenses but rely on programs like the KHA Scholarship Program as well.   The BA degrees, Masters degrees and PhD’s that they earn will give them the knowledge and credentials to pursue professional, well-paying careers in Israel, becoming not only self-sufficient but modeling a high standard of learning and careers for their children, families and the entire Ethiopian Israeli community.

In this pandemic year, huge numbers of  Ethiopian Israeli advanced degree students have lost their jobs and sources of income.

KHA has nearly 900 scholarship requests right now from qualified applicants.  This is a third larger than this time last year!

But – KHA currently has funds to help only about 350 students.

Your help is desperately needed.  You could be the difference between an Ethiopian Israeli getting a degree or dropping out – between Ethiopian Israelis staying in low-income jobs or achieving professional, well-paying careers.

Over 95% of KHA recipients successfully complete their academic studies.    KHA’s positive personal relationship with each student, treating them as equals and like family, is a great motivating factor in students’ success.

Please help Ethiopian Israelis achieve success by supporting KHA!  Make a donation, of any amount.    Your help is the leg up they need to become independent and successful.     Thank you!
