FEJ Kicks-off Emergency Campaign for Ethiopian Israel Community

Help Provide Mental Health Counseling During Crisis

War increases demand for life-sustaining needs and mental health care is among them. Over 80% of young Ethiopian Israeli men are serving in the IDF, doing their duty to defend Israel.  With so many serving, and with the constant anxiety and uncertainty, Ethiopian Israelis are under tremendous mental stress.  In addition, many Ethiopian Jews are new immigrants who don’t yet speak Hebrew, or seniors who have never learned the language, making it even harder to cope.

Wutse Tzega (Spring of Hope), a mental health center staffed by Ethiopian Israeli counselors, is seeking our immediate help in raising funds to expand their mental health services in Hebrew and Amharic, to establish a telephone crisis line, and engage more culturally-sensitive counselors to support the Ethiopian Israeli community.

The goal is $48,000.  So far, FEJ has raised just over $36,000.  We need your help today to support Ethiopian Israelis, who are defending Israel in great numbers.
