On November 30, 2022, Forum Yerusalem and Friends of Ethiopian Jews will host a conference in Tel Aviv entitled. “The True Story of the Beta Israel Aliyah – How Ethiopian Jewish Heroes and North American Activists Burst Open the Gates.”    Forum Yerusalem is a coaltion of nonprofit organizations in Israel, and works to change the public narrative about Ethiopian Jews from helpless victims to activist heroes who led their community to freedom and safety in Israel.   The Conference on November 30th will honor 10 Ethiopian Jewish heroes and 10 North American actvists who made the Beta Israel Aliyah, from 1965 to 1993, possible.

Susan Pollack, FEJ President, will be speaking, along with FEJ Board Member Will Recant.   Susan worked in Ethiopia and Israel with the community for many years, under the auspices of the American Association for Ethiopian Jews (AAEJ).  Will Recant was Executive Director of AAEJ from 1984 to 1993 and headed up the political advocacy, negotiations and liasoning with governments around the world to help Ethiopian Jews.
