Lectures, workshops and tours in Israel around the history of Ethiopian Jews by Naftali Aklum
If you have a group visiting Israel, such as a church, synagogue, Federation, school or youth group, this new program is a fabulous one-day experience about Ethiopian Jews – their history, culture, aliyah and situation in Israel today.
The one day program involves lectures, guided tours, home hospitality with Ethiopian food, traditional ethnic craft workshops (pottery, embroidery), music and dance programs, discussions with a Kess ( Jewish Ethiopian spiritual leader) and local leaders about contemporary social challenges. Dozens of groups and organizations have been delighted with the program, which takes place in the Ethiopian Jewry House in Beersheva.
Led by Naftali Aklum, an educator who was born in Ethiopia in 1979 and made Aliyah with his family in 1980, one of the first groups who arrived on the journey from Sudan. His brother, Ferede Aklum, helped organize and lead the immigration of Ethiopians Jews via Sudan. Naftali lives in Beersheva and earned his BA in Politics and Government at Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
Naftali speaks fluent, articulate English and is a dynamic, funny, inspiring and deep speaker. This program is well worth scheduling on your next visit to Israel. Email or call (below) to learn more.
