After three years of outstanding leadership and advocacy, Adv. Shlomit Bukaya is leaving her position as AEJ Executive Director to move on to other opportunities. Shlomit brought the organization to a new level of professionalism and effectiveness. We wish Shlomit well in all her new endeavors.
The Association of Ethiopian Jews (AEJ) has selected Adv. Rina Eileen-Gorlik (pictured here (on left) with Shlomit (on right) as the new CEO of AEJ.
Rina is an attorney specializing in civil law, holds a Bachelor’s degree in law (Hebrew University), a Master’s degree in law (Bar Ilan University) and a MA degree in Public Policy from TAU. Rina worked for two years at Bar Ilan University’s Clinic for the Promotion of Equality, and participated on the legal team that accompanied the family to court for the late Solomon Tekah, who was shot by a police officer. Rina lives in Bat Yam, with her husband and two children.
We welcome Rina to AEJ’s leadership and are confident that she will continue to advance AEJ’s mission, especially for police reform, and advocate to improve the quality of life for Ethiopian Israelis via advocacy, research, media influence, community and collaborative partnerships.
In addition, AEJ has been awarded the “Midot Seal of Effectiveness.” This is prestigious ranking is not easily accomplished! It reflects AEJ’s impact, good management and effectiveness in recent years.
