Sigal Kanotopsky, the well-known and much-admired Ethiopian Israeli leader, has taken the position of U.S. Northeast Regional Directorfor the Jewish Agency for Israel, beginning immediately. Sigal was the innovative CEO of Olim Beyahad for ten years, and took the organization from a single-focus assistance to university graduates to a multi-tiered program combatting stereotypes on the media, public life, government and business. Sigal has worked closely with Friends of Ethiopian Jews over the years to help identify the best programs, advise our support and challenge our assumptions.
Sigal and her family will be based in Philadelphia.
Sigal, her husband David met with the President of Israel before they left, and in Sigal’s own words:
“With great excitement ahead of the mission as the Jewish Agency’s representative to the Northeastern United States, to which we will go this coming Sunday, we were privileged to receive today the blessing of the road in a strengthening and inspiring meeting, honored by President Yitzhak Herzog and his wife Michal , The Land and the Tradition of Israel.”
