Wuste Tzega Opens New Therapists Training Course

Wuste Tzega provides the Ethiopian-Israeli community with a unique tool to combat the mental health crisis: culturally adapted psychotherapy, an approach that combines western psychiatry and psychotherapy with a traditional cultural lens. They have four clinics that provide this culturally adapted treatment for Ethiopian Israelis.

On Sunday, March 19, Wuste Tzega opened a new therapists training course. Eighteen professionals, including social workers, mental health care providers, Kupat Holim (health funds) therapists and more, from all over the country, came to Lod, where they will be trained in Wuste Tzega’s unique therapeutic approach. This will have a ripple effect in many Israeli institutions and significantly decrease the number of unnecessary hospitalizations based on cultural misunderstandings and misdiagnoses.
